What this work actually involves
Bathrooms are the smallest rooms we work in and the ones where the most goes wrong. Everything is stacked on top of everything else — plumbing, electrical, ventilation and waterproofing all in a space the size of a parking spot. Get the order wrong and you are opening a wall twice.
Most of what we do falls into three shapes. A hall bath or powder room brought up to date. A primary bathroom reworked properly, usually to take out a tub nobody has used in a decade and put in a shower somebody will. Or a full gut, where the floor is soft and the answer is behind the tile.
The older housing stock here — pre-war homes in the Highlands and Crescent Hill, mid-century builds around Jeffersonville and New Albany — routinely turns up galvanised supply lines, cast-iron waste stacks, and subfloor that has been quietly wet for years. We look for it before we quote.
Where the money usually goes
Tile and labour are normally the largest line, then fixtures, then anything that moves. Relocating a toilet or shower means opening the floor and reworking drain lines, which is a genuine cost rather than a small change. Waterproofing is the line people are tempted to trim and the one we will not — a shower pan done cheaply is a ceiling repair downstairs in three years.
What's included
One crew, one point of contact, from the first walkthrough to the final punch list.
Showers & tubs
Tile showers, pans and waterproofing done properly, tub-to-shower conversions, and glass.
Tile & flooring
Floor and wall tile, niches, benches, and heated floors where the layout allows.
Vanities & storage
Stock through custom, double vanities where there is room, and linen storage built into dead space.
Plumbing
Handled in-house — supply and drain lines, fixture relocation, and replacing galvanised pipe while the wall is open.
Electrical & ventilation
GFCI circuits, vanity and shower lighting, and exhaust fans actually vented outside rather than into the attic.
Permits & inspections
Pulled and scheduled by us. Plumbing and electrical work in this metro needs them.
